The Naparima Family: Seven Schools

Grant School, the first of the seventy-three Canadian Mission elementary schools was established within three months of the two missionaries' arrival in 1870.

They also established, first at Oriental Hall on Carib St, and then at Paradise Pastures:

  • St Andrews Theological College, in 1890;
  • Naparima Teachers Training College, in 1892;
  • Naparima College, in 1894;

  • at nearby La Pique,
  • Naparima Girls High School, a sister institution for girls, in 1910;

  • and in the north, 30 miles away,
  • St. Augustine Girls High School, in 1950.
  • Finally, on 17 January 1955, were established sister campuses of Naparima College at Siparia and Tunapuna, later named:
    • Iere, and
    • Hillsview.
    The current total student population of this group of schools today is well over 2000.
